November & Tome Topple Wrap Up

Not pictured: Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert & One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London

This stack of books is the most I’ve read in 1 month in a long time. I’m quite proud of myself 😅. When I put all the books on my desk to take the picture I hadn’t realized I had read 10 this month. I normally am lucky to get 4 or 5.

I’m going to attribute most of this to Tome Topple, as I actually completed that readathon as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t read all of the books I had initially chosen for Tome Topple. I read through the prologue of Evan Winter’s “Rage of Dragons” and while it was action-packed, it also had unchecked colonialism and the use of the “s” slur to describe Indigenous peoples. I wasn’t comfortable reading anymore after that.

For the rest of the time, I tried to organize myself as best as I could and plan out how many pages I needed to read per day to meet my goal. I divided each book I wanted to read into three days, that’s why there’s 3 flags for each book.

I put each of the books on my Tome Topple TBR on my Google Calendar (I use that for everything), and it helped keep me on track. Again, three days for each book (except Grave Mercy because I had to get that turned back into the library so I only had 2 days to read it).

My Google Calendar – the blue is for the books that I read for Tome Topple (and some from before then, too).
